The Planning Analytics on Cloud team has an important announcement for all our current Cloud customers.
As part of the significant update to the product in the 2.0.58 SC release in October of 2020, we introduced the Planning Analytics New Experience (NE) which introduced numerous new and exciting features such as:
New look and feel
New charting and visualization in Books
Guided planning
Predictive forecasting
Enhanced dashboarding
You can read more about these features here.
As described in this previous blog post we have provided our Planning Analytics on Cloud Administrators a feature which allows the NE to be enabled for all their users. This was to allow a preview of the new experience, and allow for testing and validation of all PAW books and assets before choosing to upgrade. It was designed to ease the transition towards the NE.
The user feedback we have received about the NE has been very positive. Many of you love the new visualization capabilities, the waterfall charts, and others have commented on how modern and cohesive the UI functions are.
With this in mind, we wanted to let our PA on Cloud community know that as of the July 2022 release of Planning Analytics Workspace, we will only be supporting the New Experience (NE) and deprecating the Classic Experience (CE) for all users.
We have put together a list of questions that will help you as you plan your upgrade to the New Experience. A banner will also be displayed to Planning Analytics Workspace Administrators next to the Preview to alert of this upcoming change. Keep monitoring this blog for updates.
FAQ
Q: I have already upgraded to the NE. Is there anything else I need to do?
A: No action is necessary if you have already performed the upgrade.
Q: I do not see the feature to turn on or off the Preview of the New Experience? What actions do I need to take?
A: None. Customers that were provisioned after the release of the NE in October of 2020 were only on the NE. No further action is necessary.
Q: What happens to all my existing books as of the July 2022 release of Planning Analytics Workspace?
A: The rollout of the July 2022 release will automatically remove the Classic Experience from your environment and all content will be available for you to be opened in the New Experience only. We strongly recommend you enable the Preview and perform the Upgrade ASAP.
Q: What can I do to prepare?
A: We encourage you to review the considerations for upgrade to the NE to familiarize yourself with the changes. There may also be some minor adjustments required to your existing PAW books. Please review this list if your are utilizing any of these features to ensure similar functionality in the New Experience.
